Q: Will my insurance cover my sessions?A: Psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP, but may be covered by private insurance and health benefit plans. It is recommended to check with your insurance provider prior to booking a session to confirm your coverages. We do not currently offer direct billing, therefore invoices will be sent to you after session to further submit a claim to your insurance provider.
-
Q: Are sessions held in person or virtually?A: Sessions are available in person or virtually depending on the preference of the client as well as client location. Our office is located in Oakville, Ontario. Please visit the "Contact" page for directions to our location.

Q: What does the "Qualifying" mean after Registered Psychotherapist?A: In Ontario, individuals categorized as "Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)" are professionals undergoing the process of becoming fully registered psychotherapists. This classification was established to ensure proper regulation and supervision of psychotherapists as they gain necessary clinical experience under supervision. Consequently, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) registrants receive ongoing supervision. It is essential to verify the credentials of a therapist and ensure their registration with a recognized regulatory body (such as social work, psychology, or registered psychotherapy) when making a selection.
-
Q: What is your cancellation policy?A: A minimum of 24 hours is required to reschedule or cancel an appointment. In the event that you are unable to provide ample notice or if you miss your appointment, half of the session fee will be charged. You have the option to cancel or reschedule your appointment via email, phone call, or through your online account up until 24 hours prior to the scheduled time. Please note that cancellation fees are not covered by private insurance. I acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances may arise that are beyond your control. In order to ensure fairness to other clients who were unable to secure your reserved time and to respect the time that has been allocated for you, the cancellation policy is applied automatically and impartially.

Q: What is the difference between a psychotherapist, psychologist, and psychiatrist?A: Psychotherapist: Registered Psychotherapists (RPs) in Ontario provide independent psychotherapy services after completing recognized training and adhering to the guidelines set by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Psychologist: Psychologists in Ontario are regulated by the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO). They hold doctoral degrees in psychology and can provide therapy, assessments, and engage in research or teaching. Psychiatrist: Psychiatrists in Ontario are medical doctors specializing in psychiatry. Regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), they diagnose and treat mental disorders, prescribe medication, and offer comprehensive mental health care.

Q: Are Registered Psychotherapists able to provide a formal diagnosis?A: Registered psychotherapists in Ontario do not have the appropriate credentials to provide formal diagnoses of mental disorders. Diagnosing mental disorders is generally the role of licensed professionals such as psychiatrists or clinical psychologists. Psychotherapists focus on therapy and counseling rather than formal diagnosis.
